BCPS Honors Anniversary of 9/11 with Memorial Ceremonies

WHO:
High School Students, Teachers, Staff and Administrators; Broward County School Board Members; Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent; District Leadership; Local Elected Officials; City Leaders; and First Responders

WHAT:
Memorial ceremonies in remembrance of the thousands of men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, are being held across the District. Media are invited to cover the following events:

  • Cooper City High School – The Navy JROTC is hosting a commemoration that includes a wreath presentation, guest speakers and Taps performed by the school’s Sound of Pride band.
  • Western High School – The annual We Will Never Forget Memorial Ceremony is taking place. The event features a student-constructed memorial that replicates the Twin Towers, surrounded by the Pentagon, with a flagpole placed in the outline of the state of Pennsylvania. BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn is attending this event.
